Huawei Technology teaming up with wireless network operators China Mobile, China Unicorn and China Telecom has rolled out advanced 5G on Mount Everest replacing 3G.
Team of 150 people was able to set up the network which was not an easy task. With the geographical and technical difficulties, it is astonishing and highly respectable to achievement. This will be major benefits for the area of people and especially for climbers.
China Mobile, the world’s largest wireless network operator, said its 5G project on Mount Everest marked “not only another extreme challenge in a human life exclusive zone but also laid a solid foundation for the later development of 5G smart tourism and 5G communication for scientist research”, according to the company’s post on Weibo.
According to them, the network can provide download speed up to 1GB per second. Installation of one of three panned station on Everest has been done and after completion of the other two, the new will also be available at the Summit.
